Beef Market Continues to Advance

MORNING LIVESTOCK REPORT

Cash cattle for the week started out $1.00 to $2.00 lower and by Friday were down $2.00 and $3.00 in some regions.  Average weights are dropping and feedlots especially in the Southwest are current and in the Midwest most heavy cattle are now cleaned up.

Beef market is moving higher on small amount sold on daily market. Friday the total loads moved were just 78. Consumers are buying steaks to hamburger.

Friday not even 300 loads moved.  Carcass price was lower compared to last Friday, but due to drop in bellies.  But with loins and hams up, pork is actually doing better.  Loins and hams are cheap. Demand for pork is strong. There is talk that with big demand and scarcity  for chicken wings, demand for “Pork Fingers” will increase price for pork.  Pork exports are good and should remain good.
