Positive Tone in Front of EIA Report

CRUDE OIL

Crude oil prices are on track for their first negative month since March, but they have risen more than $5.50 from Monday’s spike low and are on-course for a positive weekly reversal. To extend the recovery, the market will have to get past today’s weekly EIA report.

RBOB and ULSD remain well below their late July highs, but they were able to post strong gains for the second day in a row on Tuesday and are posting moderate gains this morning. Summer travel will drop off following the Labor Day holiday weekend, which is less than two weeks away, and it should impact demand for RBOB and ULSD.

NATURAL GAS

Natural gas prices are seeing choppy action this week, but they are managing to stay clear of last week’s lows. The October contract fell back from a 1-week high on Tuesday and went on to post a moderate loss, but it shook off early pressure overnight to climb back towards unchanged.
